We renewed the bottom of the gutter, using the fascia boards we had ordered earlier. We also replaced the fascia boards on the shed. It was quite a job: milling, priming, assembling, finishing, priming again and then applying the top coat.
DIY: replacing fascia boards
We had previously placed an order with TOSIZE.lu for the fascia boards for our house. This time, we set to work on the fascia boards for the shed and the underside of the gutter.
The old gutter consisted of separate slats. We wanted to make it sleeker and easier to maintain. That is why we have now made it into one continuous panel, into which we have milled slats ourselves to preserve its original character.
We also added a milled edge to the bottom of the fascia boards. This preserves the characteristic detail of our 1930s house, but with a modern and sustainable design.
Made from Plywood Marine B/BB
For this project, we chose Plywood Marine B/BB, a material that is perfectly suited for outdoor use thanks to its waterproof bonding and high stability.
After milling, we primed all the parts and then secured them with glue and nails. The nail holes were filled with a flexible two-component filler, after which we carefully finished everything. Finally, the panels were completely primed again and finished with a wear-resistant top coat.
The result is a sleek whole with the original look of yesteryear — but made of durable material that will last for years to come.
Dimensions:
Bottom of gutter: 67.0 × 5.48 cm
